Learn about the elements of a resume, cover letter, interview, interview follow up, and all that is necessary in the pursuit of employment. Instructor: Saveria Giovinazzo

Supplement to U.S. History—Focus on Immigration, 9:50, ages 13 and up, $49

Research the history of immigration into the U.S. from the first settlers to current. Learn in which manners people come to the US lawfully and unlawfully. Analyze, evaluate, and discuss how this affects our daily lives. Weekly assignment will include sharing a current event. End of semester assignment will include researching and presenting your own path in which your family immigrated to the U.S. This is a great class to supplement your U.S. History credit at home. Intro to Computer Technology, 1:45-3:45, ages 13 & up, 9 weeks, $110, BYO Laptop

This class will give a general knowledge of computer hardware and software. The focus would not be on surface usage, but “behind the scenes” information would be covered. In the IT Job sector, it is becoming more important to obtain Technical Certifications than college degrees. This will give students the foundation they need to discover where their talents and interests lie in this exciting field of opportunity while still in high school. Students need to bring a laptop to the class, and should be self-motivated, problem solver, and have a strong interest in computers. Note: no computer class 3/23, due to production. Intro to Technical Drawing, 1:45-3:00, ages 13 & up, time and $ TBD

Do you love to draw in a technical way? Learn the basics of drafting, creating 2D and 3D drawings in geometric construction and basic perspective. As a final project, draw a building, house, or interior technical drawing perspective colored with water colors. Dates and price TBD. Instructor: Carmen Fernandez

Intro to Arduino, 10:50, ages 12 & up, $56 plus $15 supply fee, BYO Laptop Computer

Arduino is a tool used in making computers that interact with the real world, more than a desktop/laptop. We will work in teams and learn to program the arduino boards to make simple devices. These devices will be able to display simple outputs, such as LED lights, and receive basic inputs, such as switches. We will also learn how to communicate with a computer using an arduino board. Instructor: Jared Piro

Jewelry Design, 10:50, ages 12 & up, $68 plus $19 supply fee

New and returning students: Take a look at the history of jewelry design and what has been created before us. Learn to wrap wire to add beads to chains and make pendants. Boys can make masculine pendants if they choose. This is a very sellable skill that they are learning. This instructor has been designing and selling her own jewelry for twenty years. Both young men and young women will enjoy this fascinating class and come away with a professional looking piece of jewelry at the end. Finished piece will be displayed during production. Cross Fit Teens, 10:50, ages 12 & up, $56

Grow up healthy and strong with a life long love of working out, thus avoiding the common problems associated with childhood inactivity and obesity! Children will push, pull, run, throw, climb, lift, jump, effectively and safely, regardless of whether or not they play athletics. During this program, the coach will educate your child on the importance of making their bodies powerful, enriching their minds, building strong character, creating rewarding experiences, and developing a sense of pride. We require tennis shoes for this program. Parents welcome! Instructor: Jason David

Metalsmithing, 9:50, ages 12 & up, $68 plus $20 supply fee

Beginner and intermediate: Learn to cut out a metal sheet design with a small jeweler’s saw, texture it, and create art. Some bead or stone wrapping will be taught as well. We will also look at other Fine Craft Metalsmithing works from contemporary jewelry artists. New students and returning students welcome. New material will be taught. Supply fee: $20, unless different mediums are chosen in class. Intermediate students will practice and learn new skills like Chainmaille, pin and fibula fabrication, texturing, and are encouraged to come up with and design their own art. Jewelry design, sculpture or unique pieces are all welcome projects to be displayed during production. Instructor: Karen Walby

French for Teens, 9:50, ages 12 & up, $56 plus $3 supply fee

Study French language and culture in a great group immersion setting. This course includes all the basics of language study – vocabulary, grammar, listening, speaking, culture, and practice. Students will use an edited version of Francias Interactif, a complete college-level first year French course. Instructor: Roseanna Ondra

The Write Shop, 1:30-3:30, dates below, 6^th to 10^th grade, $55

This part two of our beginning writing class will use the Write Shop curriculum to learn various types of composition; descriptive, narrative, informative, and persuasive. We will also cover editing skills, current events and journaling. This class will lay an excellent foundation for next year’s class, the IEW high school course. This class can coincide with your home studies to be a full high school credit (ask how). We will meet every other week this term, on 1/20, 2/3, 2/17, 3/2, and 3/16. Payment is for this term only. We will offer 6 more weeks in May-June, for a total of 16 weeks. Please bring the Write Shop I book to class, along with pencil and paper. Instructor: Debbye Rheker

Teen Ceramics, 10:50, ages 11 & up, $68 plus $10 supply fee

Students in this class will be guided in developing both sculptural and functional ceramic pieces while learning about clay and handbuilding techniques. Students will be offered projects that will allow them to explore the material while developing their own "voice" to put into their pieces. Instructor: Tracey Priska

Watercolor, 12:20, ages 11 & up, $68 plus $10 supply fee

Student should have some drawing skills as they enter the field of watercolor, and will start with a gentle sketch in pencil of a still life object(s). Color theory will be taught as the student mixes their paint and learns about successful color palettes. Watercolor is a beautiful medium that is a bit like a foreign language. Slowly but surely the students learns how to handle it and layer up the paint in order to achieve a gorgeous effect. Instructor: Karen Walby

Intro to Art History, 10:50, ages 10-14, $56

Children will learn about art history through the ages. Each week will cover a different time period and learn important art forms and artists, followed by some fun art in class. Students will be expected to do a small presentation on the artist of their choice. Parents are welcome to watch this last class presentation. Instructor: Rachel Mahrle

Anatomy Science Lab, 12:20, ages 10-13, $56 plus $10 supply fee

Head and Shoulders, Knees and Phalanges – yes PHALANGES! Explore the science of the human body. Learn how to hit a nerve in fun, tactile, experimental and interactive ways. Instructor: Racheal Flanagan

IEW Writing A, 12:20-1:30, ages 9-13, $68 plus $10 online book

In Institute for Excellence in Writing, students will learn how to take notes produce a summary, use stylistic techniques, write a story, and write a report. The $10 book may be downloaded from the IEW website for $10, or ordered for about $20. Students may need parental help at home! All assignments must be typed. Instructor: Debbye Rheker

Building Structures, 12:20, ages 9-13, $56 plus $6 supply fee

In this class, students will learn about building structures such as bridges and dams. We will then use materials like dowels, pipe cleaners, straws, and cardboard to erect smaller models of some of these structures standing in the real world. Instructor: Jared Piro

Drama! 9:50 or 12:20, ages 9 & up, $56

A fun Drama class of verbal and non-verbal communication form. Kids will come up with their own ideas of who, what, where, creative situations, character development, pantomime, facial expressions and gestures. Skills mastered will be used in production at the end of course. Instructor: Deb Weathers-Jablonski

Art with Carmen, 10:30-11:45, or 12:20-1:35, ages 9 & up, $88 plus $15 supply fee

Consider our National landscape. What do you see - mountains, seas, farm lands, forests, urban cities? What would you reflect or project? Draw the ideas, texture and paint with oil on canvas in this fine arts class. Note class is 1 hour and 15 minutes. Finished piece will be displayed during production. Graceful Glamour, 10:50-11:45, ages 9 to 13, $56 plus $10 supply fee

Being a girl is fun! In this interactive class, you’ll discover plenty of secrets that will help you become a young woman who knows and loves God. With activities and discussion, you’ll do manicures, make-up, learn how to enhance your natural beauty, and much more. In this joyful time of becoming the real you, you’ll also uncover more of what God has planned for you and how you can help the people around you. Class based on “The New Christian Charm Course” by E. Hunter, J. Capehart and A. Carnathan. Instructor: Racheal Flanagan.

Beginning Drawing, Exploring Color, 1:30-2:25, ages 9 & up, 9 weeks, $68 plus $8 fee

Students just beginning or on their 2nd semester in drawing will learn or revisit drawing techniques. We will use these drawing skills to do a light sketch of some fun objects. We will then apply oil crayon or chalk pastel to the drawing as they learn about color and the color wheel. This should be a playful class, diving into color experiment, seeing its effects on their compositions. Crazy and colorful objects always welcome if brought to class. Note: no drawing class 3/23, but production 3/23. Instructor: Karen Walby

Beginner Snare Drum Semi-private Lessons, 12:20 (ish), ages 9-12, $49

Learn basic fundamentals of playing snare drums, times during lesson vary. New students welcome, or continue your drumming skills from last term. Drum pad and SD1 general drumsticks will be necessary for the class. Skills mastered may be used in production at the end of course. Instructor: Grant Kendricks

Guitar, group, acoustic or electric, 10:50, or 12:20, ages 8 & up, $68

A group guitar class including tuning, notation, chords, strumming patterns, and more! Beginners and beyond are welcome. Acoustic/electric reviewed. Bring your own guitar, or recommendations for rental are available. Skills mastered may be used in production at the end of course. Instructor: Neal Wright

United States Heritage Award Class, 9:50, ages 8-14, $56 plus $10 supply fee

The United States Heritage Award is a program offered through Nations Trails to give youth recognition for learning about the heritage of the United States of America. Children will learn history behind the National Anthem, about the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the American flag. The students will be assigned one outside assignment to express their American pride. After completing the course, the students will be awarded the US Heritage Award medal and patch. Ages 8-10 will earn the Silver Medal. Ages 11-18 will earn the Gold Medal. Instructor: Camie Rabon

Advanced Cake Decorating, 10:50, ages 8 & up, $56 plus $35 supply fee

In this class the student will build on skills already taught in the previous cake decorating classes. We will be using buttercream & royal icing as well as some fondant/gumpaste. Techniques include: string work, draping, new flowers, figure modeling & more. Students will bring home a decorated cake in the 2^nd lesson, cookies midway through, and a cake at the end. On the last class, students will display their cakes during production, and bring home their beautifully decorated cake. Prerequisite: beginner and intermediate cake decorating. Cake Decorating-Intermediate, 12:20, ages 8 & up, $56 plus $35 supply fee

Building on the skills learned in the last class(es), students will learn new techniques using butter cream icing, royal icing, & fondant. Techniques include: covering a cake with fondant, fondant flowers, royal icing flowers and accents, brushed embroidery, basket weave, the rose and more. Students will bring home cakes & cupcakes on specific weeks, and will display their final cake during production, before bringing it home. Prerequisite - completion of the first class or equivalent experience. Instructor: Cindy Giraud

Cake Decorating, 9:50, ages 8 & up, including adults! $56 plus $35 supply fee

Learn the basics of cake decorating, from applying icing to designing a cake. From different borders, several flowers, figure piping, & more, students will learn different techniques. Students will bring home cakes & cupcakes on specific weeks, and will display their final cake during production, before bringing it home. Instructor: Cindy Giraud

Hip Hop! Intermediate and up, 10:50, ages 8 & up, $68

In hip-hop we will be focusing on the rhythm and the beat of the music, coordinating our movements to go with that beat, and incorporating other styles of dance. Being an American Girl, with Felicity, 12:20, ages 7 & up, $56 plus $5 supply fee

Felicity grew up in colonial Williamsburg during the time of the American Revolutionary War. Girls will learn what it was like to live during this time period. Activities may include how to cross-stitch, write with a quill pen, learn songs and games, how a girl would have dressed, and have a tea party to practice our colonial skills. Any girls’ doll is welcome to attend, but is not required. Girls only, please. Instructor: Camie Rabon

Make Your Own Stuffed Animals, 10:50, ages 7-13, $56 plus $15 supply fee

In this class we will be making fun stuffed animals such as a frog, hedgehog, and a snake. Must have basic hand sewing skills such the straight stitch and the ability to thread a needle. Instructor: Gabrielle Lucido

Baton and Pom! 10:50, ages 7-12, 9 weeks, $56

Learn basic baton twirls and fun pom routines. Class time will include dedicated training in each discipline. Bring your own baton and pom pons. Instructor: JoAnne Kroll

Broadway Superstars, 9:50, ages 7 & up, $56

Each class will combine music, dance and drama to create an end class production. Drama topics will include “What do I do with my hands?”, “Facial expressions don’t lie.”, and “Think like you mean it.” We will work to create a short musical theater piece that shows natural talents on the stage while learning new things each week in class. Instructor: JoAnne Kroll

Knitting with Jeannie, 9:50 or 10:50, ages 7 & up, $56 plus $5 supply fee + size 11 needles

Learn the basics fundamentals of knitting and then create a beautiful scarf to take home. Bring size 11 knitting needles to first class, please. Yarn supplied in fee. Instructor: Jeannie Anthony

Contemporary Jazz, 9:50, ages 6 & up, $68

From Broadway to the movies, jazz can be found anywhere. Come and learn some fun steps which will create awesome, full-length dances. We will dance and get some energy out! Attire: Girls - “yoga” pants or tights and leotard, jazz or ballet shoes. Boys - t-shirt and athletic shorts, jazz shoes. All long hair pulled back securely, please no hair in face. Children will learn an introduction to our solar system including a new planet each week. Students will make a book and model of our solar system during this interactive class. Instructor: Rachel Mahrle

Old Testament History, 10:50, ages 6-11, $56

In this class, learn many exciting things that happened 4,000 years ago, and get a glimpse into how God was working so very long ago. Step in to exciting Bible stories, mappings, crafts, and activities of this time period. Children will learn about the people’s customs and create different crafts and do activities to bring the Bible alive in a brand new way. Instructor: Ashley Verville

In this class students learn how to shape clay using basic handbuilding techniques. We will be exploring the use of slabs, coils and pinch pots to make both functional and sculptural pieces and allowing room for personal exploration & discovery. Instructor: Tracey Priska

Learn how to play recorder, reading treble clef notes and learning beginning musical rhythms and notations. Bring your recorder, or ask to purchase one through E Hub for $2. Bring folder for notes. Note: Recorder class runs 1/20-2/24. Instructor: Kathy Hoffman

New and Returning Students: Come learn in a full-immersion class through our brand new theme “Adventures in the Winter”. Our dynamic teachers use a variety of proven methods to teach kids to understand, and ultimately speak, a new language. Our teachers lead kids through adventure-filled lessons that incorporate storytelling, music, movement, art and dramatic play. Come learn the beginner basics of hand sewing. Learn to thread a needle, finish off stitches, etc. Students will make fun projects such as a purse, pillow, and hair scrunchy. Your new pieces will be displayed in the final production. Instructor: Gabrielle Lucido

Praise and Worship! (PAW), 9:50, ages 4-11, $56

We are called to worship God with every action, every day of our life. A life of praise and worship fills our deepest needs, and amazingly, also brings great joy to God. In this class, children will explore a variety of different ways to worship including singing, playing instruments, creative prayer, dance, scripture, and other creative expression. Instructor: Ashley Verville

Animal Fun, 12:20, ages 5-8, $56 plus $7 supply fee

Each week students will learn about a different animal by reading stories, doing crafts, and playing games. Instructor: Gabrielle Lucido

Tots Ballet, 1:20-1:50, ages 3-6, 9 weeks, $63

Tots Ballet is an adorable class for young children who may or may not have experience in dance. Ballet technique is the foundation for every style of dance; jazz, modern, ballroom, and even hip-hop! Girls: Pink or black Leotard, Pink or white Tights, Ballet Shoes. Boys: White T-Shirt, Black light cotton pants (no sweats), ballet shoes. Each week we'll enjoy the adventures of a classic children's book, and then enjoy activities that go along with our story. We'll play games, create art projects and explore social studies, math and science concepts from the story. Always a new subject, every term! Instructor: Amanda Gehrke

Broadway Babies, 12:20, ages 3–6, $56

Music and Dance and Drama, oh, my! Children will enjoy an exploration of music through singing and listening, dance through choreography, and drama through skits and stories. They will be acting out a song for performance day. Instructor: JoAnne Kroll

Experiencing Music, 10:10-10:50, ages 3-5, 6 weeks, $34

Children will love this early childhood music class that explores singing, movement, and musical games including various percussion instruments, boom whackers etc. In the last class, parents are welcome to join in the class room and see what their children have learned. Note: this is a 40 minute class, due to the needs of tots. Note: Music students have class from 1/20-2/24 only. Instructor: Kathy Hoffman

WHAT is STOP N SHOP you ask??
Children's Craft Sale by E Hub Homeschooled kids! Stop-n-shop, new gifts for families. Wrapping center to wrap presents. Bake sale treats, including gluten free! Invite your friends and family. WHO does these CRAFTS??
This is a craft show with sale items done BY the children for all. They can be simple or complex, but the idea is that it is the students' opportunity to show their creative side as well as practice their entrepreneurial skills. HOW can you PARTICIPATE?
If you would like to participate please contact Tricia at (248) 835-4203, or tupperwaretricia@aol.com. The cost to participate is $2 plus a baked good donation for half of a table (4 feet) and $4 plus a baked good donation for a whole table (8 feet). I will also need to know the item the student is making in an effort to not have two people selling the same thing. There will be a sign-up sheet at the E Hub desk to reserve their craft selling choice. Can I help in ANY other way??
We NEED parents to assist in several aspects of this project including.... set-up, tear down, wrapping center, etc.... Please contact Tricia if you are able to help!

The Fall 2011 session is already coming to an end!! I am so thankful to all of you, and our amazing instructors at Enrichment Hub! On Friday, November 18, 2011, after our regularly scheduled classes, will be our Enrichment Hub Fall Production, where many bright eyed students will wow their family & friends with the gifts they learned this term! Many students will have the opportunity to perform on stage (Room 213) and/or have their finished projects displayed proudly on tables (Room 212). We invite the whole community, including friends and family (Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, etc), to join us for this special end-of-the-term celebration. Homeschool families, invite your friends! Bring canned goods for Gleaner's Food Bank, and wrapped treats to share! Peanut-free treats only, please. Also non food treats are great...pencils, spider rings and the like!!! Bring your kiddos in costumes! Please remember, NO scary, offensive, vulgar, indecent costumes acceptable. Thank you! See you there with goodies & fun! Please park in Kensington's West parking lot, park with trunk facing the lane, so you can open your trunks & pass out treats. Some families love to decorate their trunks for this fun event. Families can arrive by 1:15 PM, and get ready to share. Enrichment Hub's "Not-Back-To-School" kick-off Picnic and Used Book Sale is open to all!
Invite your friends, bring your gently used curriculum to sell/trade, and/or come & meet other local homeschool families. Event is Monday, 9/12/11, at Halmich Park in Warren.
Pack a lunch & drinks! Time: 11AM-3PM, with Trunk sale starting at 11:30 AM. park near 13 Mile, please.

Tweens/teens, bring your tennis rackets, soccer balls, or baseballs & gloves, or stuff to walk/ride the trails. There are lots of opportunities at this park!
